h4. s4 De-brief

As most of the exec were aware, last weekend was that of s4, our uber-LAN. So what did we think of it?

James reckoned that there wasn't enough variation, and he had a point. There was a lot of Quake3, Starcraft, CS, OpFlash etc - but these are either FPS or RTS; there was little, for example, driving going o...

"With a final tug, the power plug, fixed in its socket by a term's worth of dust and grime, finally came free, leaving his machine free of the cables that protruded like tentacles, each suppling a facet of the machine's ability. By far the most painful part of the experience was t...

"He looked at the page in disbelief. Two letters, 12 points tall, stood there staring back defiantly. Two letters that offered so much. Two letters which could take so much. In his mind flash visions of helicopters, rails, redeemers and AWPs. Visions of the Zerg and of the Soviets. Visions of a rally car navigating a two-right-over-crest. And he knew that it was his destiny."

That's right folks - the LAN is coming... and it's going to be big! Starting at 8pm on Friday 16th continuing until 10pm on Sunday 1...

The exec meeting started with a 1024ms silence, to respect the passing of a dear friend. With the release of Windows XP, and the Win9x/ME line being finally phased out, the days of one of our greatest childhood friends are now past.

RIP MS-DOS.

Hi everyone, and welcome to the latest edition of the Compsoc newsletter. Things are looking "interesting" on the CS academic side at the moment - first years programming funky robots (or so I'm told); second years being forced to learn Swing to attempt an assignent that has little or nothing to do with Swing and...

LAN party

Posted on 18th October 2001

There is going to be a CompSoc LAN party on Saturday, week 4 (27 Oct), in Lib1 (next to the library). Unfortunatly, all of the 18 places have already been taken, so we can't accept any more signups (unless you want to be on the end of a 5 long reserve list!). However, if you just want to see what a LAN party is like, feel free to turn up just to look round (without your computer, of course).
