Jason Clifford Lecture
Posted on 19th January 2004The LUG is hosting a free guest lecture this Wednesday (21st Jan) at 4pm, in L4, by Jason Clifford of ukfsn.org, an ISP which he runs using Linux. All profits of ukfsn.org are used to fund free software in the UK.
Translation: This guy does what many of you will want to do as a career, and he is coming here to talk about it.

h4. LAN Signups
Due to technical problems with molotov, LAN signups did not open as expected at 11pm on Saturday evening. To ensure the signups remain fair, member signups have been moved back to 12 midday, Sunday (today), 18/01/2004. Guest signups will remain at 11pm next Saturday.
Finally, if you were running any processes on molotov, you may wish to check if these processes are still active.
Apologies for the inconvenience - this problem should not reoccur.

Happy 2004
Posted on 8th January 2004Hi, folks, and welcome to CompSoc in 2004!
This term, we have a whole bunch of events planned. Two LAN parties, guest lectures, tutorials, socials, a variety of trips, as well as the usual gaming and pub socials. Keep an eye on the newsletter for information about upcoming events.
Finally, a reminder: pings to or from campus are firewalled by the university, so do not be surprised if they do not work. Also, users in halls will only be able to access IRC on port 6668, not the usual 6667.
Access Problems
Posted on 5th December 2003Heya folks,
As many of you will have noticed, molotov was inaccessible between about 2am and 8am last night. This was due to the University's Internet connection going down, and was completely outside our control. More information is available on the ITS announcements page, or the uwarwick.its.announce newsgroup.
Additionally, many of you in halls are having trouble accessing our IRC server. Due to a DOS attack from inside the Warwick Piazza network, the University network has been forced to block all req...
Dave Jones POSTPONED
Posted on 25th November 2003The Linux User Group had organised a free guest lecture by Dave Jones, a key developer of the Linux kernel, on Wednesday 26th November. Unfortunately it has had to be postponed due to forces beyond our (and his) control. It will be re-arranged for some future time, and announced on the LUG website.
