Email on molotov
Posted on 14th August 2002Those of you who use molotov for your email will have noticed that email's been broken for a week or two. This is now fixed. Email posted to @warwickcompsoc.co.uk will be delivered correctly. Users wishing to post by using molotov should set their mail client to use smtp authentication with their molotov username and password, on port 8025. POP3 still works as normal on port 110. Email compsoc@warwick.ac.uk if you have any queries.

BBQ!
Posted on 21st June 2002Although it's short notice, there will be a CompSoc BBQ this year - and it's this Sunday! Starting at 5pm, with food from 6pm, and in the same location as last year (head down Health Centre road, towards Gibbet Hill, and stop when you get to the water).
Molotov State
Posted on 14th June 2002At about 8pm last night (Thursday, 13th) there was a momentary power outage that affected most of campus, including our server Molotov. While Molotov booted up ok after the power came back, it failed to correctly talk to the network, rendering it useless. At about 11:20am today (Friday) James Ross, Mike Smith and Robert Stacey attempted to get Molotov up and working.
While Molotov is now on-line and running (3pm Friday), it's not in an ideal configuration, and is only running a limited number of services (...
BFL signups
Posted on 21st May 2002Due to a, um... accident, the newsletter sent out earlier today states that the BFL signups will go live today - this is not true. They will be going live at 12 noon Wednesday 22nd May 2002. Apologies for any confusion caused.
~womm~
Posted on 7th May 2002Well, s7 has been and gone, and there was one hell of a lot of ~womm~ing going on... and not just in JK! Expect some good pictures later. While JK2 was certainly the main attraction, other games were played - most notably Dungeon Siege - although there was also lots of Operation Flashpoint action, along with Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, Starcraft and even a bit of Grand Prix 3 and Rollcage.
Now, if you couldn't make s7, or just want even more LANage, watch out for the BFL comming up during week 10... and, l...
Yay, more downtime!
Posted on 27th April 2002Once again, molotov needs some downtime. This is just a simple reboot, so all will (should) go as planned. I will be rebooting molotov at 14:00, on Monday, April 29th. Things should be back to (relatively) normal by 14:10. I will post in the newsgroup (uwarwick.societies.computing) when it's all over.
Molotov downtime
Posted on 24th April 2002On Wednesday (24th April) morning, from approx 7:15 until 11:45, molotov was not working. This was due to a failed power supply, which has now been replaced. All systems should be back to normal, if not, mail me.

The Countdown Begins
Posted on 19th April 2002Well, term 3 is almost upon us, Warwick Piazza almost works, and CompSoc are planning more events as usual... this term we're planning: 2 LANs (one of them will be big), possibly a BBQ (if we can arrange it), and the usual quota of 2 gaming sessions and one open source project meeting a week - that's 27 events total. Oh, and while you're trying to work that calculation out, you would be strongly advised to get yourself a shiny website password, which you'll need for signing up to events from now on.
